Armscorp has issued custom receiver serial numbers in the past and still will today upon customer request. At least one Armscorp custom receiver serial number was preceded by the letter A. The serial number prefix A denotes a design change in the early receiver production at Armscorp of America, Inc. The serial number prefix S indicates the. I'm seriously thinking of buying an Armscorp M14, in the 15,000 serial number range from a friend. His dad bought the gun about 15 years ago and it has been sitting in a closet since then. It has all U.S.G.I. Parts, except for the receiver, and comes with two stocks, two flash hiders, 3 mags, and the barrel is a U. Springfield Armory dated 1/62.
Recently picked up a grouping of military rifles, mostly ww2 and earlier. In the group was an Armscorp M14 NM. From serial number AO 0034xx range receiver was made somewhere around 1988. Went through the rifle most if not all parts are USGI front and rear sights are NM. Barrel is stamped for M852 cartridge and B.R. Dow and a P above name.
I found enough information to know it was built by a highly skilled armorer, what I don’t know is who made barrel. I was in the process of taking down rifle to pull the hand guard when I noticed hand guard was glass bedded in front and rear. I stopped right there.
Anybody know if there is a way to find out what barrel is on this piece.
First M14 I ever owned so still learning.
Thank you
